MEET THE COACHES
Bill Richardson
Bill Richardson is a Cooper Institute Certified Personal Trainer.
In 1976 he started running with a friend for fitness and became hooked and hasn’t stopped since. Bill enjoys several things about running including weight management, staying fit and the fun of competition. Bill is a long-time member of the Fort Worth Runners Club, and he received the Male Runner of the Year Award in 2006 by the FWRC.
He has completed the Boston Marathon, in addition to being an age-group winner for the Cowtown Marathon, the Cowtown half marathon and the Cowtown 5K. One of his favorite running moments: seeing his 6-week-old granddaughter cross the finish line in the Winston-Salem 5K (in a stroller of course!).
As a coach, he enjoys seeing the excitement as others improve and reach their goals. His favorite race is the 5K because of the quick recovery time and because there are so many available 5K races every weekend. The numerous races keep him motivated to have a continuous training program. Also, the benefit of many friendships with other runners is a real plus.
His running has taken him all over Texas, especially the Hill Country. His wife says “if we take a vacation, I know there is a race somewhere on our itinerary!”
Larry Lichnovsky
Larry has been running since 1988. In addition to being a Boston Marathoner, he is a recent “50 stater.” This means he has run a marathon in all 50 states. He was an age group winner in 30 of the races. Obviously, his favorite distance is the marathon; so he enjoys lots of long runs. No, he does not have a weight problem!
Larry’s toughest marathon was in the state of Mississippi. The course was in a rural area out in the middle of nowhere. He was running fourth overall when the leader got off course. The end result was that Larry’s 26.2 turned into a 29.2!
His next goal is to run a marathon on each continent. Training in Texas for the Antarctica marathon may be somewhat challenging.
As an officer of the Fort Worth Running Club, he is very active on the local running scene, and really enjoys meeting and visiting with new runners.
Larry is from the small Czech town of West, so he also enjoys a good polka! |
